Men’s Health Week

Men’s Health Week, led by the Men’s Health Forum, highlights the importance of men addressing their health and wellbeing. In 2023, we supported a response to the Men’s Health Inquiry advocating for a culture shift towards prevention and supportive workplace environments.

Learning Disability Week

  • Monday 16 – Sunday 22 June 2025
  •  Theme: “Do You See Me?”

This week celebrates individuals with learning disabilities and calls for visibility, value, and inclusion in all areas of life, especially healthcare.

Why It Matters in General Practice:

  • People with learning disabilities face health inequalities and communication barriers
  • We must ensure annual health checks, reasonable adjustments, and inclusive communication are prioritised

  • Share best practices for communication
  • Use the Learning Disability Register and flag adjustments
  • Display posters and easy-read guides
  • Include patients in care decisions

Clean Air Day

  • Thursday 19 June 2025

Clean Air Day, run by Global Action Plan, raises awareness about the health dangers of air pollution—and what we can do to reduce it.

Why It Matters:

  • Linked to 36,000 deaths per year in the UK
  • Contributes to lung disease, low birth weight, and mental health issues

What You Can Do:

  • Use public transport, cycle, or walk
  • Avoid idling cars near schools and clinics
  • Open windows for better indoor air quality
  • Share info with your community
