Fitness Declarations
Penrhyn Surgery does not write letters stating patients are fit to fly or participate in activities such as marathons, running, cycling, mountaineering (this is by no means an exhaustive list).
We don’t offer this service because assessing a patient’s fitness for specific activities requires specialised expertise.
This expertise is outside the scope of a GP’s medical training and qualifications. We are not trained and therefore not indemnified to provide this service.
Furthermore, this is private work, not included in our NHS Contract.
We can complete forms that only require factual medical details and don’t ask us to make any judgments about your suitability or fitness for the activity.
We can also provide a printout of your medical summary or a letter detailing your medical history.
We do recommend that you consult with a specialist or relevant medical professional who have expertise in the area of your request and will be better suited to assess your specific needs and provide the necessary documentation.
